When a law enforcement agency responds to a motor vehicle crash, a Minnesota Law Enforcement State Accident Report may be completed. Accident reports are considered confidential. Accident reports are only released to, or be viewed by, involved individuals, identified on the report, with proper identification or by their designated representative. All reports are processed in accordance with Minnesota Data Privacy and Practices Law.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office prepares traffic collision reports in compliance with Minnesota Statute 169.09 and Department Policy.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office does not release reports created by the Minnesota State Patrol, University of Minnesota Police Department, Metro Transit Police Department, Saint Paul Police Department, or any surrounding suburban police departments.
The Minnesota Law Enforcement State Accident Report is not the same as the Minnesota Motor Vehicle Crash Report (PDF). Every driver in a crash involving $1,000 or more in property damage, injury or death, must download, complete and mail in the Minnesota Motor Vehicle Crash Report (PDF).
